Grupo Financiero Atlántida Companies Earn Country Awards at Fintech Americas Miami 2024

Banco Atlántida Honduras received the Country Award, Platinum category, for its QR Withdrawal service for Innovation in Channels.

AFP Confía of El Salvador earned the El Salvador Country Award, Gold category, for its Active Collection project for Voluntary Pension Savings Funds in Innovation in Channels.

During the 9th edition of the Country Awards for Financial Innovators organized by Fintech Americas and held in Miami, Banco Atlántida Honduras and AFP Confía of El Salvador, both Grupo Financiero Atlántida companies, were recognized for their innovation in channels. Fintech Americas is the leading financial technology conference for the financial services industry in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Banco Atlántida was awarded the highest category, Platinum, for its innovation in service channels. The QR Withdrawal service was developed as an innovative solution for its clients and users to facilitate cash withdrawals from their accounts without the need for a debit card. It is the first bank in Honduras and the Central American region to offer a cash withdrawal service through a QR system, with greater speed than other similar services. Currently, Banco Atlántida maintains this leadership, being the only bank in the country to offer this service to all its customers who hold a savings account.

"When digitalization and innovation driven by creativity and technology come together in the service of our clients, we are building a more modern and sophisticated financial system in the country and the region. Through this initiative, Banco Atlántida not only maintains its efficiency and transparency of service with its clients, but also fosters financial inclusion — a purpose to which our institution is committed," said Luis Martínez, Vice President of Innovation at Banco Atlántida Honduras and Project Leader for this innovation.

For its part, AFP Confía earned the El Salvador Country Award, Gold category in Innovation in Channels. This award was granted thanks to the Active Collection project for Voluntary Pension Savings Funds. This project aimed to eliminate manual processes by offering a digital payment mechanism that ensures end-to-end traceability of client contributions.

Since the start of its operations, this mechanism has enabled more than 58% of contributions received to be processed through this system, reducing processing time by 70% compared to offline transactions.

Lourdes Arévalo, Executive President of AFP Confía and Project Leader for this initiative, added: "Digital transformation allows us to have more transparent, secure, and efficient processes. For over 25 years, we have responsibly managed the savings of Salvadorans, and this recognition makes us feel even more committed and motivates us to always provide the best to our affiliates."

Ray Ruga, CEO of Fintech Americas and member of the judging panel, said: "In an era of constant change and formidable challenges, our winners have demonstrated the true essence of adaptation. They have not only pushed boundaries but have also played a crucial role in reshaping the financial sector within their institutions, their countries, and the communities they serve. Their pioneering use of technology and modern business model strategies is leaving an indelible impact on the sector. Through their initiatives, they have significantly improved operational efficiency and transparency, and have promoted financial inclusion and equity."
