San Pedro Sula, August 10th, 2017. - In an unprecedented event, focused on the development of Honduras, Banco Atlántida in its capacity of agent and structurer of the Syndicated Credit Contract for the Design, Construction, Financing, Operation, and Maintenance of Palmerola International Airport marked an important milestone by strongly propelling a project that will turn Honduras into Central America´s logistic center by connecting Honduras with the rest of the world.
The total investment amounts up to US$ 163.5 million and represents a joint support to the financial sector regarding the development of the country as it is made up of syndicated financing, private investment, and the State.
Among the financial institutions that participated in the financing of the new airport figures Banco Atlántida, as agent and structurer of the Syndicated Loan Agreement, as well as AFP Atlántida, Banco de Occidente, Banco Promérica, St. George’s Bank, Banco del País, and the Rural Development Bank.
The Palmerola International Airport, titled as "The Center of the Americas" will comply with all international standards. It is estimated that the terminal will be completed in 2019 and will have the capacity to serve 1.5 million passengers per year, generating approximately 10,500 jobs, 3, 500 directly and 7, 000 indirectly.
