Honduras Digital Challenge 2018 Edition concludes, a World Bank´s initiative led by Banco Atlántida

The most robust digital ecosystem program also had the support of the Private University of San Pedro Sula, Business Fund, Karim's Group, Catholic University of Honduras, AFP Atlántida, C & W Business, Televicentro and USAID.

Tegucigalpa, May 26, 2018. - Honduras Digital Challenge is a successful initiative that provides new opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation, generating benefits to empower Hondurans, through their participation in the global digital ecosystem. This initiative consists of two components, the first, Elance Employment Program, an implementation of systematic education on how to perform business online, which led to a series of training aimed at strengthening the capabilities on how to do business of that type and connect them with market demand to be able to collaborate with North American and worldwide companies. With a scope of more than 500 people between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, participants were educated on topics such as: best practices on virtual work, online work platforms and online payment methods for virtual workers, among others.

The second component of the program is the Startup Challenge, an entrepreneurship competition that entails training and awards along with a 3-month pre-incubation process, that promotes the creation of modern apps to facilitate the service delivery business of different companies. This component is divided into two categories: Take-off Track for entrepreneurs who are still working on the idea or prototype stage and Flight Track for entrepreneurs who already have a prototype, product or functional company generating sales.

For the second edition of Honduras Digital Challenge, throughout three months, more than 80 entrepreneurial teams received training in virtual and face-to-face workshops, a hackaton, Boot Camps, and customized tutorials through this program. After an extensive call at a national level, a total of 30 teams earned a place on the final where the teams presented their projects to the public and international judges.

The winning teams of the 2018 Startup Challenge, received cash prizes, local training, international internships, university scholarships, among others. Within the Takeoff Track, Senilix figured first, and Hondutronics figured second. In the Flight Track, Pixelpay stood out in second place and Green Technology managed to obtain the first place.

The sponsoring companies, including Banco Atlántida motivated all entrepreneurs and professionals who wish to take their projects and goals to the next level, to participate in the third edition of the Honduras Digital Challenge which will take place in 2019.
