Our banking institution joined the first Fintech Congress in Honduras organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The use of financial technology services in Honduras represents a great opportunity to increase financial inclusion. Banco Atlántida has become an important development agent by promoting and sponsoring several initiatives for several years.
The Technological Innovation for Financial Services (Fintech) Congress that took place in Tegucigalpa was supported by Banco Atlántida, as a promoter of entrepreneurship and innovation in the country.
This efforts reflect how Banco Atlántida continues to believe in Honduran talent to develop disruptive ideas that will create a positive impact on society. Initiatives such as Honduras Digital Challenge, are open platforms for entrepreneurs to demonstrate their creative skills and provide innovative solutions.
Such is the magnitude of Banco Atlántida’s commitment that the permanent representative of IDB in Honduras, Eduardo Almeida, acknowledged the role of our institution in leading Honduras Digital Challenge. Almeida affirmed on national TV, ‘‘This is a good strategy, the most refined. The bank itself makes an open call for innovative agents to develop the industry."
Guillermo Bueso, Banco Atlántida CEO expressed that "promising talents have to step up at this moment and seek the support they might need." He added, ‘‘Honduras Digital Challenge is an example of what we can do, and we will actively continue to back the opportunities that shall arise. We are genuinely proud to encourage this type of competitive spirit among our fellow citizens.’’
Banco Atlántida joined the first Honduran Fintech Congress, with the purpose of contributing to the growth of this industry in the country, given that the financial access that it implies, brings various sectors of the population closer to a banking relationship; hence, improving their opportunities and life quality. As part of a solid and experienced Financial Group, it is a priority for Banco Atlántida to continuously innovate in the search of agile, convenient and secure solutions for its customers.
Today, there are approximately 1,160 Fintech companies in Latin America; and last year, these companies generated around 25% of the risk capital that circulated throughout Latin America. In Honduras, there are many opportunities to be exploited and a long way to go in the financial technology industry, which is why the support of the business sector, the financial sector and the regulatory bodies is vital.
