During the 9th edition of the Country Awards for Financial Innovators organized by Fintech Americas held in Miami, Banco Atlántida Honduras and AFP Confía from El Salvador, companies of Grupo Financiero Atlántida, were awarded for their innovation in channels at the leading financial technology conference in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Banco Atlántida was awarded the highest Platinum category for its innovation in service channels. The QR Withdrawal service was developed as an innovative proposal for its clients and users to facilitate cash withdrawals from their accounts without the need for a debit card. It is the first bank in Honduras and in the Central American region to offer cash withdrawal via QR system with greater agility than other similar services. Currently, Banco Atlántida maintains this leadership as the only bank in the country to offer this service to all its savings account holders.
"When digitalization and innovation driven by creativity and technology come together to serve customers, we are building a more modern and sophisticated financial system in the country and the region. Through this initiative, Banco Atlántida not only maintains its efficiency and transparency of service with its clients but also promotes financial inclusion; a purpose to which our institution is committed," said Luis Martínez, Vice President of Innovation at Banco Atlántida Honduras and Project Leader of this innovation.
Meanwhile, AFP Confía received the Country Award, Gold category in Channel Innovation. This award was granted thanks to the Active Collection project for Voluntary Pension Savings Funds. This project aimed to eliminate manual processes and involved offering a digital payment mechanism that allowed traceability from start to finish of the contributions made by clients.
Since its inception, this mechanism has enabled over 58% of contributions received to be made through this method, reducing processing time by 70% compared to offline transactions.
Lourdes Arévalo, CEO of AFP Confía and Project Leader of this initiative, added: "Digital transformation allows us to have more transparent, secure, and efficient processes. For over 25 years, we have responsibly managed the savings of Salvadorans, and this recognition makes us feel more committed and motivates us to always provide the best for our affiliates."
Ray Ruga, CEO of Fintech Americas and member of the judging panel, said: "In an era of constant change and formidable challenges, our winners have shown the true essence of adaptation. Not only have they expanded boundaries, but they have also played a crucial role in reshaping the financial sector in their institutions, their countries, and the communities they serve. Their pioneering use of technology and modern business model strategies is leaving an indelible impact on the sector. Through their initiatives, they have significantly improved operational efficiency, transparency, and have promoted financial inclusion and equity."
